Roy White Principal
Roy knew he wanted to be a designer since high school. Born in London, Roy graduated from the Mander College of Art & Design at 18 and cut his teeth early at renowned London design firms, The Partners and Carol Dempsey and Thirkell, and shortly founded his own successful design firm, The Third Man, working with the likes of Virgin Records and the Royal Opera House. Moving to Australia in the early 1990's, Roy was involved in major Olympic-related branding projects, most notably, the Olympic Village and Olympic Stadium identities. The two-year-long initiative to re-brand the Australian Government Services Agency as "Centrelink" kept Roy busy until moving to Canada in 1998. Prior to forming Subplot, Roy held the position of Associate Creative Director and, in 2003, of Acting Creative Director of DDB Canada's design division, karacters, one of Vancouver's leading creative design consultancies. Notable projects included Urban Fare, Earl's Restaurants and the Finning Annual Report.

Founding Subplot has allowed Roy to bring his international branding experience to the Vancouver market, where he is helping clients navigate the often daunting task of solving complex brand architectures and brand strategy issues and to manage extensive brand touchpoints in a way that is sustainable and, ultimately, meaningful and relevant.

Roy's work has been recognized internationally in design competitions and publications across 3 continents, including Creative Review, AR100, Graphic Designers of Canada, Graphis, HOW, Graphics World, the Australian Designers Association, Lotus Awards, New York Festivals and Applied Arts.

"Branding. Not Blanding."
